Flower Power 2: Chromatic Power [mini article]

This entire article is just about chromatic roses being added to the list of druidcraft tech. They’re actually super helpful, giving resistance or immunity to all chromatic types and providing a cone attack for 3d10 damage. We could give these to our familiar to make them do breath weapon attacks, too.

To those who haven’t read druidcraft tech 1 i suggest you do before reading more here.

Essentially, druidcraft allows us to make “A flower bloom” which can be taken as creating flowers, from there, we can make any magical flower in the game, including ghost orchids and, the point of this article, chromatic roses.

Chromatic Rose

This magic rose comes in one of five colors, as noted in the Chromatic Roses table. While a rose is held, it gains a harmless visual effect as indicated on the table.

While holding the rose by its stem, you gain resistance to damage of the type associated with the rose’s color. If you would take more than 10 damage of this type from a single source (after applying the resistance), the rose disintegrates, and you take no damage instead.

As an action, you can blow the petals from the rose to produce a 20-foot cone of acid, lightning, poisonous gas, fire, or cold, as dictated by the rose’s damage type. Each creature in the cone must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw, taking 3d10 damage of the appropriate type on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. Using this property destroys the rose.

with how easily producible these are, I recommend having them on hand all the time, making batches of bouquets and putting them in a place you can object interact to grab, making us immune to chromatic damage of 10 or more and resistant to anything less as well as giving us a cheap cone attack, and we can produce this same effect for our entire party and even summons.

It’s worth mentioning that if chromatic roses are this easy to obtain and hold onto, it’s very rarely the case that the damage from death rainbow will kill you, and you just need to worry about the conditions now. Though, this can quickly be turned against us if the enemy knows about it, meaning death rainbow is now less reliable. Of course, you can try getting through every rose using a grater or, better yet, use antipasta tech.
